Author’s Introduction

All praises be to Allah, the one ruler of the universe. Prayer for salvation is always tossed to the lord of prophet Muhammad SAW, his family and companions.

Islamic legal scholars have formulated an invaluable science throughout human history, it is Ushul Fiqh, a science with a clear and systematic formulation of all points of view. They dedicated all efforts to the understanding of Islam through the Quran and Sunnah, it is also the law that triggered from both and from other sources are acknowledged.

Several years earlier, I wrote some graffiti on Ushul Fiqh as a course of fourth-semester student at the Faculty of Sharia and Law, University of Baghdad, then I collected these scribbles in a book that I gave the name: Al-Wajiz fi Ushul al-Fiqh. I have also done some improvements that I deemed necessary from previous prints, adding samples and things that should be reduced and akin. Proverb says: “Nobody wrote on this day unless he would find flaws in his writing the next day”, because it is one of the clearest evidence of human flaws and weaknesses and Allah the only one essense is perfect, but many among people do not bother.

Additions such as adding few examples of the rules of language (arabic grammar/nahw and shorrof) to the rules of ushul fiqh texts related to the explanation of nash, because the rules of language is a true benchmark that harm the understanding, explanation and purpose of an Arabic text, and as long as a rule is written in the Arabic, then the tool used to understand it is definitely the rules of Arabic language.

Finally I hope that my little effort can make it easy for the students in understanding the science of ushul fiqh according to the proposal content of requirements. I ask only to God, that His taufiq is always with me and the people who studied ushul fiqh in the running of Sharia and enforce his sentence. Verily He is all-hearing and all-answered prayer.
